The terms, kept simple
Merge introduces you to one person at a time and helps a real date land in your calendar. These are the terms for using it during the pilot. They are short on purpose: the service is young, and honest words serve you better than boilerplate.
Pilot terms, version 2026-08-30
What Merge is
An AI matchmaker. Your own AI interviews you, our server proposes at most one match per matching round, and both of you confirm before anything is scheduled. There is no feed, no swiping, and no in-app chat. What Merge delivers is introductions, one at a time. The rest is up to the two of you.
Who can join
You must be 18 or older, no exceptions. During the pilot, Merge arranges dates in Helsinki. One account per person, and it must be about you: no accounts on someone else's behalf, no shared accounts.
Your account
You sign in with your Google account, and that connection is also how we verify you. It is the whole of the identity check, by design: Merge asks for no documents and no bank identification, then or later. Keep your account to yourself, and tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
How we ask you to behave
- Answer truthfully. Matching runs on your answers, and the person across the table finds out anyway.
- Be kind. No harassment, threats, or abuse, on Merge or on the dates it arranges.
- Be yourself. No impersonation, no fake profiles, and no using Merge for anything except honestly looking for a partner.
Breaking these can mean a warning, a pause, or losing your account, depending on how serious it is.
The reliability rating
Merge keeps an internal reliability rating for every member, and everyone starts at the same number. Today exactly one thing moves it: backing out of a confirmed date lowers it. You always see a clear warning and have to confirm before that happens, and it is the only choice on Merge that costs you anything. The effect fades over the following months, so an old backout stops counting against you. The rating is only ever used to break ties about who is proposed to whom first; it never closes your account. There is no appeal process today: no form, no review step, and nothing that reverses a penalty. If you think one was unfair, write to hello@m3rg3.lol.
What we do not promise
We cannot promise you a match, a date, or chemistry. Matching depends on who is in the pool and on honest answers from both sides. We also cannot vouch for another person: profiles are self-reported, and verification means a connected Google account, not a document check. The photo check is the same kind of thing. It tells us a photo is a clear, natural photo of one adult; it cannot tell us the person in it is the account holder.
Staying safe
Safety is shared between us and you. Our side: every account is tied to a Google sign in, backing out of a confirmed date costs the person who does it, and we suspend accounts when safety requires it, immediately and without notice if needed. Be aware of where that stops: a Google sign in is not an identity check, and nothing automatic penalises someone who simply does not turn up. Treat the rating as a small signal about reliability, never as a statement about who anyone is. Your side, and it matters more than ours: meet in a public place, tell a friend where you are going, and arrange your own way there and back. If anything about a date leaves you uneasy, write to hello@m3rg3.lol and we will take it seriously.
Leaving
You can leave at any time by telling your AI to withdraw you from Merge. Matching stops immediately, and seven days later we erase your data. There is no cancel: those seven days are a margin so a misfiring AI cannot destroy your account the instant it is asked to, not an undo button. What gets destroyed, and the one record we are required to keep, are set out in the privacy policy.
The legal part
Merge is a pilot, provided as is and as available. We work hard to keep it running and correct, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Our liability is limited to the extent Finnish law allows, and nothing in these terms takes away rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived. These terms are governed by the law of Finland.
If these terms change
We will announce changes and show you the new version before it applies to you. Material changes will ask for your agreement again. Each version is dated, and this one is 2026-08-30.
Who runs Merge
Merge is run from Helsinki, Finland by its founder. A Finnish limited company is being established; once it is registered, it will take over these terms and this page will be updated to name it. You can reach us any time at hello@m3rg3.lol.
